Welcome to the Yale family Grade 9's (and their parents). Allow me to introduce myself.... my name is Mr. Radons and I am the Career Programs Faciliator at Yale Secondary. I am responsible for many career programs and opportunities here at Yale including:
- District Career Programs (www.abbotsfordcareerprograms.com)
- Apprenticeships
- Police Academy
- Fire Academy
- Hospital Rotation Program.
I also provide access to some volunteer opportunities in the community:
- Big Brother Big Sisters
- Abbotsford Hospital 'Volunteen' Program
Many of these programs are focussed on the senior grades (10-12), however, for grade 9's, Yale Secondary is once again supporting the Take Our Kids To Work Day. TOKWD is a nationwide initiative (www.takeourkidstowork.ca/) that encourages our gr. 9's to spend the day in a workplace out in the community. On this day (Nov. 5), grade 9's are expected to attend a parent, relative, or neighbour's workplace. If this is not possible, the students are expected to research a particular career at home that interests them. There will be more information available closer to the day. I am hoping that students and their families will take this time to organize and setup a valuable TOKWD experience for their grade 9. Once again Grade 9 classes will NOT be in session on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
